Preschool
Homeschooling preschool aged children is just a continuation of doing what they love best: reading and playing!
You do not need an expensive or elaborate curriculum to develop a love of learning. Use objects and educational toys around your own home. Everyday activities can be learning opportunities – activities like sorting, counting, talking about colors, setting the table, grocery shopping and helping around the house. These activities lay a foundation for future learning.
Reading daily to your child has many wonderful benefits. Even if children do not appear to be paying attention, their brains are learning and developing. Re-reading their favorite stories over and over assists in language acquisition. Make a weekly trip to your local library. Instill in your child a love of reading which will pave the way to a love of learning.
Learning during the preschool years should be fun for everyone, including you. The time for formal academics will come soon enough. Follow your child’s cues for the best experience for both of you. Have fun and enjoy this time. It will go by quickly!
